Space is Getting Crowded: Threats and Challenges Posed by Orbiting Debris
In this edition of Wilson Center NOW, we are joined by Sophie Goguichvili, Program Associate with the Wilson Center’s Science and Technology Innovation Program. She discusses the increasing problem with “space junk” in earth orbit and the threats this debris poses for commercial and government satellites and spacecraft. She also highlights a new interactive feature Launching into Orbit, which takes the user “through five layers of orbit used for satellites and other space bodies to answer the core questions: what do we put into space, and why do we put it where it is?”
