Wpd Finland Oy, Salla - The Nuolivaara planning area is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the center of Kemijärvi, on the border of Kemijärvi and Salla municipalities. The size of the wind farm design area is about 1,260 hectares. It is planned to build 17 wind power plants in the Nuolivaara project area, each with a capacity of about 5-6 MW. On the Kemijärvi side, the project area is located on the lands of the Kemijärvi common forest, and on the Salla side, the land owner is Metsähallitus. The project is in its second phase. The EIA of the project was completed in February 2018. The partial master plan for the Kemijärvi side, comprising 15 wind turbines, has entered into force in April 2020. The partial master plan for the Salla side, comprising 2 wind power plants, is still awaiting final approval. In addition to the zoning, the 110 kV transmission line, which will enable the transmission of electricity produced in the project, is in the general planning phase and its redemption procedure will begin in autumn 2020.
